During the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar, music and all other forms of art were at the peak, courtesy the states patronage. But it wos during the regime of Aurangzeb that artists and musicians got prosecuted. As Aurangzeb believed that music takes man away from GOD so it should be shunned. Even after Aurangzeb's death, various rulers who succeeded him had a fixed mindset about music and they tried to suppress it with their own methods.
In one such period came Waris Shah, A Disciple of Baba Makhdoom, whom popularised music. To Fulfil the last wish of hid Guru Waris Shah reached a village to write the epic love story of Heer Ranjha, which was now his sole mission in life.
Here in this village Waris Shah underwent various emotions of life. In what cicumstances he completed his mission of life aand how his real life encounters got reflected in his book which is known as 'Heer Waris Shah' is there to see in the film - "Waris Shah - Ishq Daa Waaris"
