Inspector Samar Pratap Singh (Manoj Bajpai) is a dedicated young cop, who’s transferred to a small town in Bihar. Almost immediately, he comes up against a powerful mafia which controls the town, led by a self-styled anarchist (Sayaji Shinde). The law is powerless to control the activities of this criminal and Samar soon finds himself confused and disillusioned with the legal process. His family life suffers and his wife, Manjari (Raveena Tandon) starts to bear the brunt of his problems. This powerful film, with some extremely violent sequences, is directed by debutant E Nivas, who’s been associated with Ram Gopal Varma for several years, as his assistant director. Music is composed by Shankar – Ehsaan – Loy. The film is Raveena Tandon’s first venture into meaningful cinema and portrays her in an extremely deglamorised role, that of a middle-class housewife.
