Ganga (Amitabh Bachchan) and Jamuna (Meenakshi Seshadri) fall in love and vow to spend the rest of their lives together. Saraswati (Jayapradha) loves Ganga but hides her love for him. She decides to dedicate her life to him. Hansraj (Amrish Puri) separates the two lovers and succeeds in his plot when Jamuna is swept away in floods. Shankar (Mithun Chakraborty), who is in love with Jamuna, saves her from the river. Ganga, having lost all hope of finding Jamuna, takes Saraswati as his bride......
