Jitendra (Dharmendra) is an idealistic newspaper reporter, who does a controversial expose on crime and corruption in high places. He is thrown out of his job by the publisher, Amita (Mala Sinha), who re-instates him when she realizes that every word he’s written, is true. Amita begins to get attracted to Jitendra. Amita’s impish younger sister Sunita (Tanuja) and Jitendra meet under unusual circumstances and fall in love. Amita realizes too late that she has lost her heart to the same man whom her beloved little sister also loves. Events take a dramatic turn when one night, Sunita mysteriously leaves home…. A delightful love story, laced with idealism, comedy and a great soundtrack composed by O P Nayyar, which includes Mahendra Kapoor singing the lilting title song ‘Badal Jaayen Agar Maali’ and Asha Bhosle’s poignant ‘Koi Keh De Zamane Se Jaake’.
